Appearance of Ciprofloxacin HCL is white or
yellowish odorless crystal powder. Ciprofloxacin HCL is
dissolving in water, slight dissolving in ethanol, little
dissolving in alcohol, nearly undissolving in chloroform and
dissolving in sodium hydroxide test solution.
Ciprofloxacin HCL is a synthetic
chemotherapeutic antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone drug
class. Ciprofloxacin HCL is a second-generation
fluoroquinolone antibacterial. Ciprofloxacin HCL kills
bacteria by interfering with the enzymes that cause DNA to
rewind after being copied, which stops DNA and protein
synthesis. In addition, ciprofloxacin is available as a
generic drug under a variety of different brand names and is
also available for limited use in veterinary medicine.
